Embracing a Season of Wonder
Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Boogie Monster…they all have something in common. Many children spend their younger years never questioning the existence of them. They learn who they are and accept that they exist. Until about the age of 8, sometimes younger, sometimes older.
We are born with our intuition. That’s why when you talk to any psychic or medium who’s worth their weight, they’ll tell you that what they do may not be because they have been “chosen.” It’s because it’s something we are ALL born with and can do. Like anything in life, it takes practice and development, consistent attention and dedication. Having an openness to the possibility that this could actually be true is a great starting point.
As children get older they take in the world around them, telling them what is true and what is not. What can be done and what cannot. What is to be believed and what is myth. So, they learn from the world around them and less from the world within them. The adults in their lives play a pivotal role in this as they are often a main source of telling them the way things are. More often than not, they learn to shut out those intuitive knowings and feelings. That intuitive inner knowing gets quieter and quieter, until it is sometimes silenced altogether. Decisions about how they move through life are made emotionally and logically because anything other than that would be “kid stuff.”
Young kids are empaths with no tools. They are emotionally reactive. Taking in everything around them and working very hard to process it all with only the tools they know. I think about this and compare it to my own experience as an adult who went through several awakenings. Boy, what a roller coaster! I was acting in a similar way- emotionally ungrounded and lacking the tools to process it all effectively. The difference is that I was aware that my intuition held water. I just didn’t know how to operate in a world that works so hard to keep us from that.
As a parent of a young kiddo, I’ve got stories for days- the things my kiddo has said throughout his time here that refer to another realm, past lives, and intuitive “hits.” While the inner me listening to it each time is amazed, curious, and sometimes even flabbergasted, the outer me has learned to respond in a way that allows him to trust himself and his inner knowing. At least, that’s what I hope and strive for.
So in this season of magic, I encourage you to take a moment to see it all through a child’s eyes and mind. Allow yourself to get swept away in all that is possible and good. Become captivated with the enchantment that children feel on Christmas morning and all year long. It’s okay, you can go back to being an adult after that if you like. 😉
Wishing you a magical Christmas and Holiday season! I am sending you love, always.
