A Season of Change
You may have heard that hugging a tree can be healing and grounding. There’s some science to it, but my energetic understanding is that when the trunk of a tree comes in contact with your skin, it absorbs negative energy. It transmutes the energy by sending it back to the Earth where it can once again have a positive impact. This understanding is the basis of what I’m about to tell you next, so get comfy and read on.
Healing and inner work is not for the faint of heart. It’s hard, yet so incredibly rewarding. Years ago, as I took my daily walk, my Spirit Guide, Taki, became strongly present. I was in the midst of heavy inner work and really struggling. I’d been through cycles of healing, but I was weary from the tough wounds I was working to process. Taki showed me how the Earth assists with our healing work, even when we are unaware.
The roots of a tree can be compared to neurons, connecting it to Mother Earth energy. The more there are, the thicker they are and the stronger the energy can flow. Through the tree to the leaves to transmute heavy energy. To the bark to transmute. But, the trees don’t get there overnight. They start out at saplings, a bit flimsy and roots just forming. Connected to Mother Earth, but at a lesser degree or more surface level. Their trunk is thin and delicate. While it is little, it is the foundation for its healing and growth. All it had to do was be open to receiving the sunlight, the water, the oxygen...all that it needed just found its way to the little tree to slowly nourish it and help it grow.
Each season that the little tree is alive is a cycle of growth: Spring= rebirth, new life, new energy, cleansing, Summer= expression of love and gratitude, growth, potential, opportunity, Fall= energy transmuting through the leaves, healing trauma, shedding what is no longer needed/serving, Winter= hermit mode, rest, reevaluating, integration. With each full cycle it grows another layer of bark on its trunk, growing new roots and strengthening old ones, perhaps even allowing old roots to reintegrate into the soil. Then, the cycle begins again, but with each new cycle the tree can take on more serious energy, it contributes more with regard to energy work, it can withstand tougher storms.
Let’s dig deeper.
Like people, or souls, trees have these energetic cycles. In the summer they are green and vibrant- and how does it all make us feel? For many, we feel really great when summer comes, things are in bloom, and everything is green and lush. Heart chakra. Yep- the trees, during this part of the cycle, are operating from their heart chakras- literally letting off love. But, as the weather changes to fall and the leaves turn yellow, red, and orange, the energy the trees have been transmuting since the start of their cycle is coming out into the leaves. Releasing the last bits of energy that need transmuting, falling back to Mother Earth to be reabsorbed and provide nourishment in other ways. Makes sense; the lower 3 chakras carry so much trauma.
Think about how different trees have different healing energy specialties. Depending on what color leaves it has in the fall, can clue us in to which energy center would benefit the most from that tree. A maple tree’s leaves may turn orange, working to transmute Sacral chakra energy absorbed during this cycle. A birch tree may display yellow leaves, an expression of Solar Plexus energy it’s collected. Pine trees, even though they are protective, are still green. A pine green, darker, not often as vibrant as deciduous trees. The fact that they remain the same year round speaks to their purpose as well.
Think about how different trees grow in different places, and the people who are there too. Were they placed there for this lifetime as a hint to which energy centers need attention? On a subliminal level there is energy work going on around us just by being in the presence of these trees. And, when people move or travel, they are benefitting from other varieties of trees perhaps not found at home. Maybe because only short interaction is necessary for the work being done.
So, as we are now on the other side of last night’s Full Moon in Aries and in Western New York, the vibrancy of the trees leaves are on display, I encourage you to take some time to reflect on the energy you’re releasing, the change that is transpiring, and express gratitude to the trees around you for assisting in your own energetic transformations.
Oh…and go hug a tree, will you? They love it when we do that. 😉
